Johnny Recon VS The Bullet-Man From Mars
Check out Johnny Recon Week at Twart.
As it is my favorite indy comic of all time, I HAD to do something for it.

For the INHUMANS, Jack Kirby came up with the mysterious and wonderful LOCKJAW. He’s received some over due attention recently in LOCKJAW AND THE PET AVENGERS, as well as the glorious Paul Pope story in STRANGE TALES anthology. But to those of us who love him, he is a character that is never far from our minds.
Here’s to you, big guy.
PS: I’ve left the full image size giant, so click on the image above if you want a face full of Lockjaw.
You know, I’ve had this blog for like, 4 months, and I have even tagged JACK KIRBY YET!
I asked Mitch Gerads what I should do today for a warmup, and he said Mister Miracle. Good suggestion, but as I was browsing through issue #8 for inspiration, I saw this kick ass design for a Female Fury member, who shows up for just one panel. So, nameless Female Fury, here is your moment to shine!
Here, I’ll even have a contest. The person who comes up with the best name for this character can have the original. If you don’t want it, just send me someone else’s address, and I’ll mail it to them. Imagine that, just getting this random picture in the mail. HA!
So, the name of the game is NAMING. Tino Titans, GO!

I’m not a Twartist, but that don’t mean I can’t make-believe.
If you haven’t checked out the site yet, TWART is about the coolest comic art site there is. What started as a friendly collective of comic artists picking a weekly theme quickly became an artistic pissing contest, as each artist tries to one-up the last! Haha, that’s how I choose to interpret it, anyway.
This weeks was G. I. ROBOT themed. And man, these guys are just so inspiring with what they are doing, I had to give it a go! Jaw droppingly beautiful work from everyone! Also, it really helped kick my butt to finish another SERGEANT ZERO page so I could join in the fun. Seems that weird war is just something I can’t stay away from.
EDIT: After some great feedback (cheifly from Francavilla) I was encouraged to give the piece another go. It didn’t look as bad as I thought. Ha! Thanks everyone!
